Egypt’s NISE presented at the Regional Exchange of Experiences of the Switchers Support National Partnerships in Tunisia

At the Regional Exchange of Experiences of the Switchers Support National Partnerships held in Tunisia yesterday, CEDARE’s online intervention delivered by Ms. Ghada Moghny, introduced the National Initiative for Sustainable Entrepreneurs (NISE) as the outcome of a fruitful partnership aiming to support sustainable businesses in Egypt. NISE was jointly founded in 2022 by Medwaves-the UNEP/MAP Regional Activity Centre for Sustainable Consumption and Production, the Egyptian Ministry of Environment, and CEDARE under the SwitchMed Programme, funded by the European Union, under “SwitchMed Down the Nile Project to support Sustainable Economy and Green and Blue Entrepreneurship”.

Ms. Moghny outlined Egypt’s State of Development of Partnership among other national partner organizations from Algeria, Jordan, Lebanon, Morocco, Palestine, and Tunisia. She emphasized how NISE is on track, despite being in its early stages, in formulating a sound entrepreneurial ecosystem for sustainable businesses in Egypt. Also, resource mobilization and institutionalization by engaging a board of trustees of NISE members will contribute to its sustainability and its lasting positive impacts on the economy, society, and environment.

The one-day regional event comes in the context of the Switchers Support Programme which constitutes more than 100 public, private, and non-profit business support organizations that cooperate on green business development in 8 Mediterranean countries. The meeting was an enlightening opportunity for sharing national achievements, knowledge, and lessons learned and enhancing future regional cooperation among the SSNP partners.
