CEDARE Hosts NISE Founding Members’ First Meeting

The وزارة البيئة المصرية – Ministry of Environment and Cedare – Centre for Environment & Development for the Arab Region & Europe co-organized the first meeting of the founding members of the National Initiative for Sustainable Entrepreneurs (NISE). With 22 stakeholders onboard, the participants represented relevant government authorities and ministries, development organizations, banks, venture capital, private equity & financial institutions, NGOs and enterpreneurial and business associations, and business support organizations.

With a diversified structure of stakeholders, NISE platform will ensure synergy and create a market need for financing and promoting sustainable startups as attractive investment opportunities. NISE engaged all stakeholders who are capable of leveraging and supporting promising sustainable entrepreneurs to become qualified and bankable MSMEs, providing an integrated set of services and bridging any market gaps.

To formulate a consolidated structure that can sustain NISE as an effective body, NISE Governance Framework and decisions mechanism were set and the frequency of the advisory board and the founding members meetings were also announced. The Board of Advisors’ eight members were nominated. The volunteering members expressed their enthusiasm to support NISE activities and catalyze the entrepreneurial scene in Egypt.

With the aim of paving the way for a greener and more sustainable Egypt, NISE was launched in October 2022 by the Egyptian Ministry of Environment in partnership with CEDARE and MedWaves in the framework of SwitchMed Down the Nile project to support Sustainable Economy and Green and Blue Entrepreneurship funded by the European Commission.
